The idea to start a brand was during the peak of the pandemic when I saw my nephew confined within 4 walls & didn't have much to do! I realized this is not how I spent my childhood! (We were outdoors most of the time and our weekends were busier than our weekdays. No Kidding!). Most of us were affected by Covid-19, however, in my opinion, young kids were affected the most, since they were unable to venture outside.
I also realized a market gap when I wanted to gift clothes to my nephew as well; Not that there aren't enough apparel brands in this segment already, but I felt that none of them were catering to the tastes of millennial parents ( I mean at the end of the day, aren't parents the decision makers till they are at least 6 years of age? Hahahaha). I wanted to steer far-far away from Dino prints, (because duh, the dino is tired of being printed on everything boys wear. Sigh!) & the classic kiddish prints such as hearts, teddy bears & smileys.
It was imperative to me that I offer something different, something beyond just 'clothes'; I decided to develop prints that have a narrative to them, that have a meaning to them! I wanted to create print stories that make you feel nostalgic, that remind you of your childhood. Isn't it easier to connect with something that you have experienced before?
Building a brand around nostalgia for new-age parents was exciting to me & that's how Deetales was born :)
Lots of love & memories,
